Cedar Fair and Six Flags Merge Together As One

Cedar Fair and Six Flags successfully merged together on Monday. This makes them the largest amusement park company in North America (but not the world, that title I believe goes to Merlin Entertainment).

A map of every Six Flags Location now

The Cedar Fair name has been dropped and now the company is going by the Six Flags name, which honestly has a lot more recognition so it was a smart choice.

Most of the Six Flags corporate team were not kept on for the new combined company with the exception of Selim Bassoul, the CEO of Six Flags(the old one). He is now an executive chairman of the new combined company’s board of directors.

What will change? First the combined company will save a lot of money substantially by optimizing their leadership team. They can also offer a more expensive pass that gives guests access to all of their properties. This could potentially more monopolize guests attention who have an annual pass to only visit Six Flags parks versus also visiting other theme parks.

The new company can also share rides more easily, get bulk discounts from manufacturers at a better level, and more.

The company will trade under the Cedar Fair ticker of ‘Fun’ and will not use the Six Flags old ticker of ‘Six’

Penguin Trek Opens at Sea World Orlando

A brand new rollercoaster recently opened at Sea World Orlando and I was invited to the Media Day opening of it! The ride is called Penguin Trek and it’s made by B&M.

It doesn’t do anything extreme but has two pretty fun launches and has some great moments throughout it.

It also contains an Amazing Dark Ride Element that you have to check out in my video below. I’m glad they incorporated this dark ride element in the ride because it helps immerse you more in the coaster.

I think one of the best parts of it though, is that the queue for the ride is mostly indoors/covered. Making long lines for this ride very bearable and almost relaxing!

Overall, this is a perfect family rollercoaster. It’s great for all ages(as long as you meet the height requirement) and you’ll leave with a smile on your face.

Lastly, as you exit, you get to see Penguins! This is similar to the previous ride that occupied the same space, Empire of the Penguin, a dark ride that took you through the journey of a penguin and then the last scene opened up doors showing you the penguin exhibit at the park.

Check out the video below of my time at this ride!

Six Flags Opens Roblox Theme Park

Six Flags recently announced the launch of their Roblox park. It’s inspired by a bunch of the rides and events found in their parks. You’ll be able to find their Freight Fest in the game, along with several rides that share the same name as a ride in real life (like Raging Bull).

You’ll be able to earn coins and exclusive items in their game. And sometime in the future, you may be able to use the coins you earn in game for real life rewards (maybe a fast pass on a coaster?).

I commend Six Flags for doing something different here although, is it different? Disney already opened a minecraft park.

Takeover Events Occurring at Central Florida Parks

Lately there has been a string of ‘takeovers’ at parks in central Florida. There was 1-2 at Sea World Orlando’s waterpark, Aquatica. And just recently there was one at Busch Gardens. I’ve linked a video of the Busch Gardens Tampa incident below

@themeparkmagik

Busch Gardens Takeover

These takeovers are usually a bunch of teens that get dropped off at parks or bussed in. It can be said that a majority of these teens are probably just at the parks for fun but it does appear that consistently there a group that are at the parks to start trouble. Most likely knowing that getting caught in such a large group is harder.

There was a ‘takeover’ planned for Funspot in Orlando as well, but they mitigated the event by putting up a chaperone policy, limiting guests to just 1 entrance, and having additional police officers and security officers at the park that day. It appears those efforts worked because I did not hear anything about any incident happening at the park.

It seems like other parks can pay attention to Funspot and implement similar measures.

The next takeover event is supposedly on July 6th, so we’ll see if Busch Gardens Tampa has implemented enough measures by then to contain any outbreaks of misbehavior.

Last week we asked how much you spend a year on theme parks. 35% of you spent $1601 or more per year on theme parks. 7% of you spent between $401 to $800 dollars. Also another 7% of you spent between $801 and $1200. 21% of you spent between $1201 and $1600 on parks. 28% of you said you spend under $400 a year on theme parks.

Its honestly not surprising that so many people spent over $1000 on theme parks. An annual pass to either Disney park is over $1000 (depending on your tier). If you just add one other pass to that, and boom, you’re spending a lot on theme parks. If you just limit it to 1 pass but buy food and merch at parks, then you’re also spending over $1000 easily.

HHN Announces New Ghostbusters Haunted House

At Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando, you can see the Ghostbusters Frozen Empire House this season. The new house is being made from the latest Ghostbusters movie that shares the same name.

While I didn’t love the movie, I didn’t hate it either. With the main villain from the movie looking pretty badass, we can hope that this maze features some great scares!
