Tons of Theme Park News!

Universal Teases Potential New Park In the United Kingdom

In recent news, Universal Studios said that it could possibly open a theme park in the United Kingdom after purchasing a 480-acre plot of land. This news came after Alicia Stella of Theme Park Stop uncovered this recent land purchase.

A company spokesperson said it would take several months before Universal made any decisions for the land.

Universal is currently in a building frenzy. It’s building a third theme park in Orlando, a park in Texas, a Halloween Horror Nights inspired attraction in Las Vegas, and just a few years ago opened a new park in Beijing. There’s even rumors that it might buy back Port Aventura in Spain that it once owned.

Theme parks for the Disney company is one of it’s most profitable divisions. It seems that Comcast(the owner of Universal) might be wanting to have something similar within it’s own portfolio, a strong chain of theme parks it can rely upon for a steady stream of cash.

Universal Orlando Confirms Land Names For Epic Universe

Celestial Park will be the heart of Epic Universe, all lands will branch off of this main land. It seems that it’s themed to space and will contain the very exciting Starfall Racers coaster. There will also be a Carousel probably unlike anything we’ve seen before, Undersea Dining where guests will sit underneath fish that float above them,

While we have details for the Celestial Park land, it seems that Universal is wanting to keep details for the other 4 lands under wraps for now while it finalizes plans for the park.

New Jersey Backyard Coaster Once Shutdown, Teases Comeback

The team that built Shadow Stalker in their backyard last year in New Jersey is once again building another coaster, this time in what seems to be not a backyard(meaning, hopefully it won’t get shut down this time!). Their instagram account is BuiltToThrill.

Their coaster last year was shut down by the city of East Brunswick, but that didn’t stop the 17 and 19 year old pair behind the coaster from building a new one! This new one is being called Expedition Equinox and seemingly has a similar design to their first coaster.

Some of you noticed that I stopped sending the newsletter a few weeks ago. I took a very nice mental health break from content creating in general to enjoy the holidays and the new year.

But I’m back now and refreshed, and ready to give you the weekly theme park news! As always, if you want to help support the newsletter, feel free to subscribe on Patreon down below!

Fort Wilderness Christmas Golf Cart Parade!

We recently stayed at the Fort Wilderness Cabins over Christmas and guests there do something quite special. They hold a parade of golf carts that they have decked out with lights and other objects to make them themed to Disney movies/tv shows/and more!

Security is tight during this event, they won’t let anyone into the property to view the parade except those that are staying at the fort. Because of that, not many people get to see this parade except for in recordings like the one I filmed below!

SeaWorld Entertainment Announces Name Change

On January 30th, SeaWorld announced that it would change the name of its company name to United Parks & Resorts Inc. This will change it’s stock ticker name from SEAS to PRKS which will begin Feb. 13th. This name change is meant to better connect with it’s various theme parks and experiences, many of which don’t have Sea World in their name (Sesame Street, Busch Gardens, etc).

This is also probably partly to distance some of their parks from the Sea World name after some public backlash over the movie Blackfish and it’s keeping of Orca’s in captivity. While the parks have made significant changes, this name change will most likely further help it’s other parks.

Legoland Florida To Replace Flying School

Photo from ParkFans.net

Python_Survivor on ParkFans.net recently posted several images of filings from Legoland Florida that might show what’s in store for the plot of land that used to house Flying School. I posted above a pixelated version, if you would like to see a more high rez version of the image, please visit ParksFans and check out the images for yourself.

It seems that this new coaster may be an indoor rollercoaster which honestly should be more common in Florida. It just gets way way too hot in the summer and the rain usually causes a lot of closures in rides across the state.

News At A Glance

  • Surf Park planned for Orlando

    • Rampage at Alabama Adventure will remain closed the whole 2024 season. It seems like it’s in rough shape and they are looking for a partner to help bring it back to life.111`
