Universal Orlando Announces a Ton of HHN Houses!

Universal Orlando has been on a roll, announcing 6 of the houses that will appear at HHN this year. These are all original houses and not based on an IP. It can be speculated that the remaining houses they have not announced will most likely be IP based. They are most likely withholding the IP house announcements until a little later in Summer to drum up hype even more for the event. Here are the houses that have been announces so far:

Triplets of Terror: You’ve been invited to a birthday party that the triplets are hosting but little do you know, the party is themed around recreating their family’s murders!

Monstruous: The Monsters of Latin America: Guests will be able to see v arious monsters of latin america in this house including Tlahuelpuchi, La Lechuza, and El Silbon.

The Museum: Deadly Exhibits: An evil spirit escapes in a museum and it starts to possess other parts of the museum.

Major Sweets Candy Factory: This is a sequel to the scarezone that came out in 2022. In this scarezone, there will be a fieldtrip through a candy factory, but the free samples turn into something much more sinister!

Goblins Feast: Guess whose on the menu? You are! You’ll go through this tavern full of witches, orcs, and goblins who are ready to eat you!

Slaughter Sinema 2: a returning house, this one will feature various scenes from fake movies. You’ll get creature features, gore, spaghetti westerns, and more!

Hyperia and Top Thrill 2 Closed for Repairs after Opening

Two new world class coasters have closed just days after opening, in order to be repaired or have some sort of modification done to them. For Top Thrill 2, Cedar Point kind of threw Zamperla under the bus in the way they announced the ride closure. It’s rumored that the reason behind Top Thrill 2’s closure is the new lightning train that Zamperla created. Some speculated that the vehicles wheels got too hot.

For Hyperia (the United Kingdom’s tallest and fastest coaster) the park announced that the ride would be closed for a few days. Thorpe park didn’t elaborate further on what was wrong with the ride, just that they were working hard to reopen it as soon as possible. They went further on to say that anyone that pre-purchased tickets for a date the ride was closed on, would be allowed to re-book for another day.

In both cases, these arn’t just kiddie coasters. These are record setting rides that closed. A case could be made that perhaps the rides weren’t tested enough prior to opening and needed some kind of modification to them that could have been caught sooner. Both parks most likely put a lot of pressure on the ride manufacturer’s to get the rides open as soon as possible into the opening of their season.

I know that there was at least one coaster club that was scheduled to have an event at Cedar Point for Top Thrill 2, but won’t be able to ride it because of this closure. That truly sucks. It also sucks for anyone that booked air travel, hotel accommodations, etc to ride Top Thrill 2 or Hyperia, that won’t be able to and can’t get refunds on those things.

What could be done in the future to avoid this? It depends

Sometimes not much can be done. Real life human riders might cause something to come up in the ride that test dummies didn’t catch. In this case, nothing could be done and the ride should close to get fixed.

Other times, deadlines can be the main culprit. A park might have announced the ride would open at a certain date which means they are pressured into opening it, maybe before all testing could be done (all safety testing will have been done prior to opening, but maybe some kind of other test). For this instance, a soft opening would probably help catch some of these errors faster. Universal does a great job of soft opening their rides. These soft openings should be done without notice, just to lucky guests that are currently in the park.

From The Editor

Im trying out something new this newsletter and maybe for a few more, where I give a brief rundown at the top of some of the bigger topics I’ll be covering. There will most likely still be more news covered to some degree, but this short list will be the topics I’ll cover more in depth.

Let me know what you think of this! Should I keep it or just go back to the old way?

P.S. the first 5 people that reply back to this email with the word ‘goldrush’ will get something in the mail! Be sure to include your mailing address!

Ryan Reynolds is the new Yas Island Chief Island Officer!

Yas Island just announced that Ryan Reynolds would be their new Chief Island Officer. That’s just a fancy title for brand ambassador/face of the island.

He joints the ranks of Kevin Hart and Jason Mamoa in promoting the island to guests around the world.

What can you expect from this? Probably Ryan’s classic humor coming to live at various activities from around the island

Check out below as he goes on one of the rides at Ferrari World!

You can see other videos from Ryan promoting the island as well as older videos of Kevin Hart and Jason Mamoa promoting the island by clicking here.

Last email we asked what makes a theme park bad and here were the results!

36% of you said poor customer service makes a theme park bad. 14% said that terrible ride operations makes a park bad. 32% said having rides closed while you visit would make for a bad park. 14% said a park being too expensive wasn’t great. Lastly, 5% of you said rude guests made for a bad experience.

For this week’s poll, I know this is a theme park newsletter, but some of these upcoming waterparks just look so freaking cool that I’m probably going to cover them at some point. So I just have to know
