A Theme Park Launches And Fails In A Week, Contest, and More!

A Theme Park Launches and Fails In One Week

Legendland, a theme park launched a crowdfunding campaign last week. You could basically buy tickets or a lifetime season pass to the park. This was all to raise funds to actually build the park. The economics of a lifetime pass just never make sense for most anything, so already I was skeptical about this idea.

The website kind of looks like an armchair imagineering project of someone. That’s not to say I wanted this park to fail, but it didn’t seem like it was coming from a real developer. This theme park was going to be the first Slavic theme park in southern Europe from an entrepreneur who moved to the country from the Middle East named Hesam Qaydi.

Anyways, the whole thing seemed crazy that it was announced out of the blue with these lifetime passes for sale. It seemed the park had an overall blueprint for what it wanted in the park and it also had some land picked out ready to be bought. But it gets more interesting!

Just yesterday the park posted online that it was refunding all purchases of tickets and lifetime passes. It seems that some reporters had researched into the park, and found the land they originally wanted to buy was set aside only for farming/ranching. The park does claim that they had misunderstood some information they came across. This didn’t stop some people from saying this project was a potential fraud.

What does this mean for the future of the park? Well, Mr. Qaydi has said he is still set on making it happen and will probably open up tickets/lifetime passes once again after he finds another suitable piece of land in the country.

A Disney World Survey Hints That The Starcruiser May Come Back

If you were one of the lucky individuals part of the final few voyages of the Galactic Starcruiser, you may have received a survey where Disney hints at bringing it back. The immersive hotel shut down on September 30th.

During the last few months of operations(after announcing closure) the experience was 100% sold out. Believe me, I tried to book another room but I had no luck!

The Galactic Starcruiser was said to have received the highest guest satisfaction score ever in Disney’s history. Guests loved it, their wallets most likely did not. For many, it was way too expensive for such a short experience (two nights and three days).

I believe Disney is not going to kill the Starcruiser but instead bring it back but changed. Maybe it is going to be a dinner experience. Maybe it could be a 1 night stay. Maybe it could drastically cut it’s costs and lower the price.

From what I understood, they had to have a backup actor for every actor. Just in case something happened to one and they had to continue the story. This was probably insanely expensive to do.

If you want to see the Starcruiser Experience for yourself, we have a whole playlist here, that you can watch

We Visited Discovery Cove!

This park was absolutely insane. It was probably the coolest water park i’ve been to but then it’s also an aquarium and a little part zoo? I’m confused what to call this park but I know it was incredible and we’ll be back!

It is on the rather pricey side though, tickets were over $180 each for us, and that didn’t include any of the upgrades like unlimited booze, the dolphin tour, or the underwater tour. At the end of the day, I think it ended up being close to $400-$500 each for us to visit this park.

Last week I asked what kind of theme park memorabilia do you collect. Pins were the overall winner but pretty close behind that choice was ‘something else’. That could be anything from stealing a park bench, a map of the park, or literally something else!

Magnets and shirts were tied next. No one responded that they collected coffee cups or hats.

Intamin just recently published this on their Instagram account. They will be showcasing the new Falcon’s Flight Trains at 3:45 Pm at IAAPA. I’ll be there and I’ll be sure to take a ton of pictures and video of this train!

In case you don’t know about this project, it’s a world record breaking coaster being built at Six Flags Qiddiya (Saudi Arabia). It will be the world’s tallest, fastest, and longest rollercoaster by a long shot. They arn’t just merely breaking the records a little bit, they are putting themselves ahead of the competition by MILES!

Heavily Armed Man Found Dead At Glenwood Caverns

A man with explosives and firearms was found dead at the park on Friday from a self-inflicted gunshot. He had appeared to enter the park Illegally after hours. He was found with a semi-automatic rifle, semi-automatic handgun, body armor, and improvised explosive devices.

It can be guessed he was planning an attack on the park but at the same time, there was a note on the wall of the bathroom where he was found deceased that read ‘I am not a killer. I just wanted to get into the caves.’

The whole park was swept multiple times for any explosives he may have planted at the park but none came up. The sheriff said that with the amount of weapons/explosives he had ‘could have done a tremendous amount of damage.’

News At A Glance

  • Disneyland and DCA park announcers will be replaced due to ‘casting changes’. You’ll soon hear new greetings and announcements from new cast members at the park.

  • 8 people were injured when a train rolled back at Happy Valley Shenzhen in China. This happened on the Snowy Eagle roller coaster. Everyone injured is in stable condition. It seems the anti rollback feature on the lifthill failed and the rollercoaster slid backwards to the platform.

  • Kid Flash Cosmic Coaster will open at Six Flags Fiesta Texas on November 4th!

  • Tokyo Disney recently announced the opening of their new Fantasy Springs land for June 6th, 2024.
