New Transformers Theme Park Being Made

Saudi Arabia will be building an indoor Transformers theme park. Technically it will be opening 3 theme parks with Transformers as each of these theme parks is relatively small. Kind of like a family entertainment center but not at the same time if that makes sense.

I’m still piecing together all the news from this announcement but needless to say I’m excited as I think the Transformers IP is under represented for how many movies and shows have been made with it.

Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Fully Booked

Last newsletter we covered that the Galactic Starcruiser experience was closing for good in September. Now this week we can say that it is fully booked for the remaining voyages. It seems Disney/Star Wars fans are wanting to experience the unique experience once before it goes away for good.

The ironic part is that the Galactic Starcruiser was announced to be closing permanently due to a lack of bookings. I’ll be interested to see if Disney is like ‘Well, maybe we extend the closing date a few more months.’ With the experience fully booked, it might actually happen.

From The Editor

As you might have noticed, we’ve made this newsletter a little prettier! Last week I missed out sending the newsletter. We flew over to Disneyland/Sea World San Diego and I didn’t have the time to write a newsletter.

The stock watch section I think looks fantastic now that it has some coaster representation in how the stock performed!

We also have section breaks now that are rollercoaster track types! Here are the following types of breaks you’ll see in the newsletter

  • Wooden

  • RMC

  • Single Rail

  • Wild Mouse

  • Alpine Coaster

  • SLC

  • Bobsled

Let me know what you think about these changes! Hopefully it adds some color to this newsletter and makes it a little funner!

Last newsletter, I asked the question “What’s your favorite snack at a theme park?” The winner was churros! In second place came Funnel Cake.

We’ve hidden a code phrase in this newsletter once again. The first person that emails us with this phrase will get some of our stickers sent to them!

As always, we would love to have you support us on our Patreon account. This newsletter does take considerable resources each week to make. Eventually it might even break even but for now it’s kind of just a fun hobby for us.

Speed the ride rollercoaster being sold

Reddit user qwertyuiop1874 recently posted on reddit that Speed the ride is being sold. This ride located in a dirt lot at Las Vegas, has been sitting for more than 15 years.

It was once part of the Nascar Cafe at the Sahara Hotel. It had a maximum height of 100 feet and reached speeds of up to 70 mph. Expedition Theme Park did a great video on the history of the ride that you can watch here.

Will anyone buy this ride? Maybe. As it happens, storing stuff in the desert is actually quite amazing as its very dry which keeps stuff in one piece.

Nickelodeon Hotel & Resort Returning To Orlando

The Nickelodeon Hotel is once again returning to Orlando, near the Walt Disney World where construction has began. The new hotel will return as part of a much larger development being built by Everest Place.

This new development will encompass nearly 800 condominiums , multiple hotels, apartments, commercial/retail space, as well as a 12 acre water park.

With a plan like this in place, it will hopefully be unlikely that the new Nickelodeon hotel folds like the previous one.

Knott’s Scary Farm Teases

Knott’s Berry Farm, the creator of theme park halloween events, has started to tease this years event. Posting multiple images with 6-6-6 written on them. By the time you’re reading this newsletter, the news will probably have broken(assuming they are going to announce something on June 6th, maybe at 6pm???).

On top of this teaser, Knott’s has started to sell passes to the event for $149 for season pass holders or $159 for the general public.

If I may say so, Knott’s has one of the best Halloween events there is and you should definitely check it out!

Sea World San Diego Arctic Coaster Review + Vlog

Sea World San Diego recently announced at the very last minute that their new Arctic Coaster would be opening June 2nd. To put how last minute this announcement was, they made it on May 26th or 27th. Usually there is a month or more before announcing the opening date of a coaster and it actually opening. This is usually done to help build the hype for it opening.

Luckily, they were offering a passholder preview of the ride prior to opening which coincided with when we were at the park! We got super lucky and were one of the first few hundred on the ride.

The ride itself was very fun and actually themed! I’ve linked our vlog of the day below if you wanted to see the pov of the ride. It really is a blast and contains 3 very fun launches. It will be an absolutely great addition to the park that many families can enjoy together

Dynamic Attractions Sold for just $2 million

In very sad news, Dynamic Attractions recently was sold for just a mere $2 million. This was the same company that made Soarin, Space Mountain, Test Track, Radiator Springs Racers, and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.

Last year they even won the best attraction award for their new motion theater ride in France.

What was their downfall?

Their signature SFX roller coaster. This new roller coaster model aimed to be a dark ride and a roller coaster at the same time. They presold 3 of these rides, 1 of which recently opened at Ferrari World, Mission Ferrari. The other two were presold to Genting Skyworlds Theme Park in Malaysia. These other two rides have yet to open.

All 3 of these rides ran massively over budget and Dynamic Attractions had to take out loans to finish the one in Ferrari World. The two rides in Malaysia would require significantly more capital to finish.

They are putting their assets up for sale of their manufacturing building in Canada. You can view the auction here

Zambezi Zinger at World’s of Fun Opening Delayed

World’s of Fun recently announced that Zambezi Zinger would not be opening on the previously announced date. They made this announcement the day before it was suppose to open leaving some very frustrated.

From the chatter I’ve heard in the World’s of Fun group we run, it appears that there is a part missing that is on back order waiting to be shipped from Europe.

We’ve seen the ride testing countless times and the park has released an official POV of the ride. We know it runs smoothly.

Hotel Conneaut owner sues Conneaut Lake Park

The operator of the Hotel Conneaut has recently filed a lawsuit against the ownership of Conneat Lake Park. For those that are not aware, the new ownership of Conneat Lake Park start to demolish the park and it looks nothing like it did years ago.

The lawsuit alleges that the owners of the park had promised to “agreed to ensure that the park would be maintained in such a way as to draw customers who, when they arrived, would spend money at the Hotel Conneaut for food, events, and lodging.”

The hotel operator had paid the park operators $110,000 to continue the lease on the hotel. With the amusement park being demolished, the hotel has witnessed a large decrease in traffic. The hotel owner alleges that the new park owners never intended to maintain the park causing a substantial loss in revenue for the hotel operator.

The secret code word is ‘pipeline’, the first person to reply back to this email with that word will get some stickers!

Six Flags Adopts Amazon’s ‘Just Walk Out’ Technology

Six Flags is going to be testing out Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology starting in it’s New Jersey theme park, Great Adventure. This new technology will allow guests to grab items from a store and walk out without interaction with a cashier.

Amazon’s technology will keep track of which items the customer picks up and takes with them, and would charge them when they walk out of the store. What does this mean for guests of the park? A way faster way to get food and get back to riding coasters.

Six Flags has been kind of notorious in the amount of time it takes to buy food from their parks during the summer. A few times I’ve went to the parks in the summer resulted in an hour wait to purchase food. This new technology would allow guests to seamlessly buy food and get back to riding rides.

This would probably increase guest satisfaction at the park which will most likely increase guest spending. The fact that there are less employees in a setting like this also means Six Flags gets to save some money there as well.

Six Flags Over Texas Announces Weekly Drag Shows

As part of Pride month, Six Flags Fiesta Texas is hosting a drag show that will run 8 nights for the month of June. Guests will be able to watch performers sparkle with excitement on the center stage in this 45-minute live show. Local drag queen legend Salem Moon will lead the show as the emcee. Guests must be over the age of 18 years old to attend.
