Deadpool Comes to Disneyland California Adventure and Disney Paris

As someone next to Disney World, I write this with big old jealous fingers. This week Deadpool came to the parks in California and Paris. The way he enters the park is just absolutely perfect. It fits him 100% and I wish wish wish I was there to see it. Here is the video of his entrance:

But what’s even cooler is Deadpool and Wolverine do this bit called “Storytime with Deadpool”. I’ve linked the video down below of that interaction. It’s also perfect for him.

I absolutely hate that Marvel had that agreement made with Universal where Disney World doesn’t get most Marvel characters. But you know, even if they did get characters from Marvel, I do have to admit that Disneyland always has the better character interactions.

The characters seemingly roam around on their own at Disneyland versus at Disney World it’s always in designated areas where you can see them.

Comcast gave an earnings report this week and mentioned that their parks segment declined, mostly due to lower attendance in their U.S. based parks. During the report, Comcast mentioned that crowds may have normalized since post-COVID spikes.

My opinion on this is that crowds are delaying their vacation until Epic Universe opens. We’ve seen that with popular rides at theme parks over the years. Revenue decreases in the months prior to the opening of a large ride or land, because people want to wait until it opens to visit. Some people dont want to take a once in a lifetime vacation only for something new and amazing to come out a few months after they visit.

We might honestly continue to see a dip in attendance at Universal parks because of people delaying their trips. Then, when Epic Universe opens, expect a large spike in visitors(as long as the reviews are good for the new park).

Elf On Ice Coming to the Gaylord Hotel

The Gaylord Palms hotel near Disney World holds a special event every winter where they deck out the place with a special theme. This is not a free event but is a special ticketed event called ICE.

The theme for this years ICE event is buddy the Elf from the movie Elf starring Will Ferrell. There will be various scenes from the movie at the event and it will take 140 artisans to create everything.

The area will be kept at 9 degrees Fahrenheit to make sure all this specially carved ice doesn’t melt. You don’t necessarily have to dress warm as guests will be given large parkas to wear (because honestly who would pack a parka to orlando???). You might consider wearing pants though and no open toed shoes if you want to stay warmer.

Allegedly, it will take 20-40 minutes to go through every section of the event. Tickets start at $29.99 on week days for adults, and $39.99 for adults on weekends and other special days.

My Recent Experience on the Big Apple Coaster at Las Vegas

A few years ago, I visited the New York New York Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas to check out their Big Apple Coaster. It was one of the worst experience i’ve had on a coaster. The collar that they had on the coaster vehicle paired with the poor quality track, caused me to hit my head multiple times against the collar. Im usually the type of person that wants to ride in the front, middle, and back of a coaster to get all the feelings possible.

But no, It was a once and done experience back then. However, since then they have received new trains from Premier and smoothed out sections of the track.

Let me tell you, this ride is actually quite fun now a days. I rode it 3 times back to back and could’ve done even more. The only downside at the time was it was 120 degrees outside. If you want to learn more about this coaster, check out my vlog below or the pov of the ride below that!

Last week we asked what is the best state for theme parks. The top answer was Florida with 34% of the vote. California came second, followed by Pennsylvania. New York and Tennessee were next in a tie, and then New Jersey and Colorado also followed next in a tie.

No one voted for Texas

Mauer Comes Out With New Coaster Concept

This new type of coaster is called the Spike ASM Launch Coaster. It will use their Adaptive Spike Motor (ASM) system. I believe this is a new system that makes it possible for larger trains to be used on the track. The train can accelerate up to 1 g at any point on the track which is pretty cool because that means you can accelerate on turns or even vertically!

Mauer has some really cool looking rides and I hope someone picks this one up too, especially with the current design of a Kraken! I think this would be an amazing addition for a park
