Universal Studios Hollywood Officially Announces Fast & Furious Roller Coaster!

This is actually a big deal. Usually Universal waits until a month or so before the ride opens to officially announce what they are working on. Velocicoaster literally is the prime example of this. We all knew they were building a coaster themed to dinosaurs but Universal never confirmed it until just a few months before it opened. They jokingly said it was a new churro stand they were building and actually handed out free churros when the ride opened!

If you want to learn more about this coaster, check out Theme Park Stop who has some great videos of it. It will be situated on this hill between the upper and lower lot of the park. A few buildings are being destroyed in order to build the coaster including the Animal Actors stage. At one point in the ride, it will go under the walkway to the lower lot.

Canada’s Wonderland Surveys Guests About 3 Coaster Options

Canada’s Wonderland recently sent out a survey to guests asking about which of 3 coaster types they were most excited about. Catch the images here. The three options included a new winged coaster themed to music from Canada’s greatest bands, another winged coaster that takes you through the core of Wonder Mountain, and a wooden family coaster that is themed to an abandoned gold mine.

I was Wrong, Fury 325 Already Testing!

Last newsletter, I threw out my guess that Fury 325 may be down for the rest of the year. I simply did not expect building a new support pillar to be a fast task. However, Carowinds quickly got a new support pillar built and installed on the Fury 325 track where the crack had happened.

They have since started to test the roller coaster.

The speed behind this fix is absolutely amazing and goes to show how worried the park management might have been about their top ride being closed. From what I was reading in various groups and forums, some people were considering postponing their trip to the park because Fury was closed. Park management may have sensed that as well and didn’t want to lose out on revenue.

Other parks have had some of their roller coasters down for quite some time before being fixed but those have usually never been their ‘top’ coaster. Xcelerator at Knott’s Berry Farm has various periods of being down for a year without the park worrying too much, as a prime example.

However, when a park’s signature ride is down (El Toro for example), we’ve seen parks push super fast to get it back up and operating safely.

From The Editor

It was a busy weekend once again! Sorry about this newsletter coming a little late! I’ll have even more news for you next week that I didn’t have the time to cover in this newsletter

Last week we asked how many coaster shirts you own. Most people only owned 1 coaster shirt. Obviously yall need to up your game and start representing the coasters you love!

Carowinds Conducts Poll On Its Next Water Ride

Carowinds recently sent out a survey asking guests what kind of water ride they would be most interested in. In case you weren’t aware, Carowinds has been without a water ride for quite some time now. Guests have been wanting a water ride to cool off during the summer with.

The three water ride options given during the survey include a white water raft ride, a water coaster, and a log flume ride. The raft and log flume ride have already been at the park at one point in time, so its interesting that the park is thinking about bringing them back.

I Now Own Roughly 80 Roller Coaster Wheels

Nearly 4,000 lb’s of roller coaster wheels are in my garage right now (as well as an Upstop). I’ll be updating the referral reward program with one of these wheels as a prize.

I’m going to sell a few of these wheels to help cover the cost of them(purchasing them and moving them across the literal country from British Colombia to Orlando).

And I’m going to use a few of these wheels to fundraise for Give Kids The World.

I had to learn a lot about the trucking industry to figure out how to move these across the country. It was actually easier than I thought. Had I known it was this easy, I probably would’ve bought a lot more stuff at the Dynamic Attractions auction that took place a few weeks ago.

I’ve been told that these wheels most likely were going to Malaysia, on the Alien vs Predator SFX roller coaster they were building. My guess is that this most likely means that that coaster is not going to be built anymore. There were a ton of other components for sale during the auction that seemingly match up with the track/ride vehicles of an SFX coaster.
