🎢 Sharing The Thrills! Your Weekly Theme Park Newsletter

Fire at Liseberg Waterpark

A fire broke out at a waterpark owned by Liseberg that was still under construction. This happened February 12th. One person has been confirmed to be dead from the fire and the waterpark slide structure was almost completely engulfed in flames.

Liseberg has said they plan to rebuild the park. The waterpark’s name was going to be called Oceana. It would have had 6,000 square meters of indoor swimming and accommodate up to 1,750 visitors at a time.

New Coaster Wheel Contest!

We’re once again giving away a huge rollercoaster wheel! This thing weighs 23 lbs (I may even consider upgrading the winner to the super large wheel we have which weighs about 40lbs!). This wheel was meant for the SFX coaster at Genting Skyworlds but the manufacturer went bankrupt and I bought a ton of them to giveaway and sell! You can enter for a chance to win this coaster wheel by clicking the link below!

SpongeBob SquarePants Ride Opens!

The brand new SpongeBob Squarepants dark ride has opened at Circus Circus Las Vegas. It opened March 1st. This brand new ride was made by Sally Dark Rides and features a shootem ride system where guests hold a controller as they fling various ingredients of a krabby patty throughout the ride at targets. If you’re a fan of Midway Mayham at Disneyland/Disney World, then you’re going to like this ride!

Weekly Comic

This is a throwback but since we have so many new subscribers this week (over 3000!) I thought I would re-share one of my favorite comics we’ve made. For those of you that are new to the newsletter, every newsletter we attempt to have a new comic strip! These comics are more than likely about a theme park or attraction. I think it’s the first theme park comic strip in the world!

From The Editor

This newsletter has a bunch of random news from the past few weeks. I was once again bombarded with personal stuff that got in the way of writing this newsletter. Hopefully I can cover the largest of news in this newsletter and going forward I can do a week by week break down of the news as usual.

Also, welcome the new 3000+ members that just recently joined!

Six Flags Stock Holders Approve Merger

Yesterday, stock holders at Six Flags approved the merger between Six Flags and Cedar Fair.

What does this mean? This was one of the hurdles in order for this merger to actually happen. There are additional steps before it actually happens though.

The next step is that the Department of Justice has to review the merger. Making sure it won’t be a monopoly (although in my opinion it kind of would be).

Six Flags Great Adventure To Open Glamping Resort June 14th

Six Flags is unveiling part of their new premium offerings which is a new Glamping resort at their Great Adventure park in New Jersey. This new experience has a minimum requirement of 2 nights. You’ll be able to see their Wild Safari which has over 1,200 animals.

Access to all 3 Six Flags Great adventure theme parks is included in your stay (water park, safari, theme park). This is truly a luxury hotel with a price that goes with it. Their lowest room category (the couples glamping one) is going for about $599 per night for a random 2 night stay i select mid-week in august! You don’t even get a safari view with that room (it would cost about $200 extra a night to get a safari view for the couples glamping room).

One thing I want to point out, is that their website honestly needs a lot of work done to it. It doesnt scream to me ‘Luxury’. Instead, it looks very basic. The resort has not opened yet though, so they are probably waiting on real life photos of the set up in order to update the website which currently just has stock photos of other glamping experiences.
