Six Flags Announces New Rides for 2025

Quantum Accelerator

Six Flags announced some new rides set to open in 2025. The first, Quantum Accelerator (A really really cool name), will open at Six Flags new England. This ride will feature a 221 foot drop and get to speeds of up to 77 mph.

It will have a steampunk feel to it and will be a straddle coaster. If you want to check out a POV of this ride, Six Flags has it on their site here.

Six Flags New England desperately needed this coaster. Their last coaster that opened was the S&S 4th dimension coaster back in 2017, and there are sooo many of those, do they really count as a new coaster??

Six Flags Great America Also Gets A New Coaster

The Wrath of Rakshasa, a new coaster from B&M is being built and is expected to open in 2025 for the park. This new Dive coaster seems like itā€™s longer than some of the more recent oneā€™s weā€™ve received at Sea World San Diego and Dorney Park.

Youā€™ll reach speeds of up to 67mph and feature 5 inversions (which they are claiming is the most inversions in a dive coaster of this type? I canā€™t confirm that). There will be a 171 foot drop to start you off and youā€™ll go through some fun looking elements.

AlpenFury Coming To Canadaā€™s Wonderland

Probably the coolest announcement if you ask my opinion, AlpenFury will be the tallest, fastest, and longest launched coaster in Canada. It will be built to go through their Wonder Mountain where guests will most likely feature a launch element that will take them to 164 feet vertically.

The total track length will be 3,281 feet and youā€™ll reach speeds of up to 71 mph.

I love how this ride intertwines with itself but let me know how you feel about it from the POV the park released above!

Other Announcements

  • Kings Island to get a dual-racing water coaster at their water park.

  • Hurricane Harbor in Arlington Texas is going to get a huge expansion with a large childrenā€™s play structure.

  • Hurricane Harbor in Los Angeles is going to get upgraded for its 30th season. Improved cabanaā€™s and seating areas, landscaping, etc

I Rode The Worldā€™s First Spongebob Dark Ride!

Located at Circus Circus near the Adventure Dome, this dark ride was announced by Sally Dark Rides last year at IAAPA. They did a wonderful job building this dark ride and itā€™s of the same quality of ride youā€™d expect to see at Disney Parks.

The ride is absolutely amazing and if youā€™re in Las Vegas, I strongly recommend going to it.

It does have some negative things about it though. It is expensive. I believe it was roughly $10 or more per ride when I did it. Thatā€™s really pricey. You do get a fairly long ride out of it though, its not just like a 2 minute thing. I believe it was a 6 minute ride. And, there is no advertising at all for this ride. Thereā€™s nothing outside the hotel/casino letting guests know this ride is inside nor is there anything inside directing you how to get to it. I kind of just lucked out and came upon it.

Busch Gardens Tampa Announces Scorpionā€™s End

In surprising news, Busch Gardens Tampa announced that the Scorpion will be closing on 9/2 (labor Day). This news came out of the blue and doesnā€™t give park goers much time to get on this before it closes for good.

This classic Schwarskopf ride has been operating since 1980! It cost somewhere between 2.5 mil and 3 mil to build.

It will be sad to see this go, but the park has promised itā€™s being removed for future thrills. With such an abrupt closure, Iā€™m sure the park is trying to stay on track with the construction of a new ride which hopefully will open in the same area by summer of next year (if that is indeed the reason for such a rapid closure).

Iā€™m going to try to head to this park this weekend to get some good shots and a pov of this ride before it closes for good!

I Did The Canyon Coaster At Williams, AZ

This was a fun coaster with some sporadic themed elements on the ride. It is $20 a ride which is insanely expensive.

Did I enjoy it? Yes

Would I do it again? meh

Itā€™s just really expensive for what it is. If it was cheaper, I would definitely do some re-rides on it, but itā€™s not. I am glad I got the coaster credit though!

Last week in our D23 newsletter we asked what announcement you were most excited about. The overall winner was of course Villains land! Next up was all the Avengers Attractions announced, followed by a tie between the Monsters Inc Land and the Walt Disney Animatronic.

Brandi commented that she was most excited for the Monsters Inc ride because of the Nostalgia of her childhood!

Lost Island Announces New Rollercoaster (NOT JOKING)

The mad lads over at Lost Island announced a RMC Raptor coaster will be coming to their park next year. Above Coaster Studios goes over the announcement.

This is truly insane for a park that just recently opened with not much attendance at all. It sometimes ā€˜breaks evenā€™ on days its operating. Itā€™s mostly being kept alive by its water park.

This could also be the jolt the park needs to truly get the attendance numbers it deserves. The park is truly amazing and has so much love put into it. Whether its the lore, the theming, or just the very friendly employees; the park is what every theme park should aspire to!

Epic Universe Unveils Details On The Grand Helios Hotel

This hotel will probably be at least $600 a night I bet. It looks absolutely stunning and has a private entrance to the park. If you get a view of the park, Iā€™m sure you get some stunning views of the park at night!
